Trailhead Tea's Handy Tea Brewing Chart
Western Style is the traditional tea brewing method used in the United States, Europe, and other parts of the western world. It is like a four member string quartet playing a lovely Mozart piece.
Gong Fu (Chinese) Style ceremonial brewing literally means making tea with skill or discipline. You use more than twice the amount of tea, in less than half the amount of water, and brew many more infusions for seconds instead of minutes. An analogy would be to a twelve string orchestra playing the same Mozart piece at the same decibel level as the quartet. But, the comparative richness and fullness of the music would be easily heard and felt.
